Australian Idol: More Golden Tickets Awarded in Week Two of Auditions
Week two of Australian Idol auditions kicked off with astonishing performances as more talented artists made their mark and received Golden Tickets. The judges were once again impressed by the remarkable talents showcased at the competition.
One of the standout performances came from Isaac McCallum, a trolley-pusher from Burrill Lakes, New South Wales. His rendition of Lewis Capaldi‘s hit song ‘Bruises‘ left a lasting impression on the judges. Marcia Hines praised him, saying, ‘I think you’re one of the best vocalists I’ve heard for a long time.’ Kyle Sandilands added, ‘That was totally not what I expected. You’re a rough diamond.’
Isaac, who had a challenging background growing up, including a period of homelessness, found solace in singing. He expressed his determination to leave behind his trolley-pushing job and pursue his passion for music on the big stage.
Another memorable audition featured 16-year-old Jet Cameron, a high school student from Brisbane. Little did Jet know that his idol, Sam Fischer, would join him on stage during his performance of Fischer’s hit song ‘This City.’ Singing alongside his hero, Jet not only fulfilled his dream but also secured a spot in the Top 30.
In addition, Bethany Byrne, a 28-year-old single mother, captivated the judges with her rendition of Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Afterglow.’ She aimed to inspire her daughter and prove that chasing your dreams is possible.
Kym Miaco, a 21-year-old hip hop dancer, surprised everyone with her “buttery and smooth” voice as she sang Michael Jackson‘s ‘PYT.’ The judges were impressed by her versatility.
Jesse Lazaroo, a busker discovered by Amy Shark while she was traveling to Fremantle, Western Australia, wowed the judges with his performance of Bruno Mars‘ ‘Talking To The Moon.’
The competition heats up as the judges have now handed out 18 Golden Tickets. The battle for the final 12 spots in the Australian Idol Top 30 is about to reach its peak.
