Avril Lavigne’s Collaboration with Simple Plan Hits New Chart Heights

Los Angeles, CA – Avril Lavigne has kicked off the second leg of her Greatest Hits tour in mid-May 2025, following a brief break. To energize fans for the upcoming performances, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter released a new single called ‘Young and Dumb,’ a collaboration with pop-punk band Simple Plan.
The track quickly gained popularity, debuting in the top five of two Billboard charts in the United States. ‘Young and Dumb’ launched at No. 3 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart and came in at No. 4 on the Rock Digital Song Sales list.
This release marks a career high for Lavigne, as ‘Young and Dumb’ exceeds her previous best of No. 5 with ‘Bite Me’ in November 2021. Lavigne’s new single also matches her previous highest ranking on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, where she similarly reached No. 3 years ago.
Simple Plan also achieved significant milestones with this release. ‘Young and Dumb’ marks their first top 10 entries on both the Rock Digital Song Sales and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts. Previously, the band had only seen one song make it onto these rosters, ‘Summer Paradise,’ which peaked at No. 35 on the Rock chart in 2012, a position that no longer exists.
Additionally, Lavigne is enjoying success with another new hit, joining Billy Idol on the track ’77,’ which debuted at No. 37 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart.
