Ayesha Curry Embraces Big Family Age Gaps with Joy and Love

LOS ANGELES, California — Ayesha Curry is encouraging parents who are hesitant about big age gaps between siblings to embrace the possibilities, citing her own experiences with four children.
In a recent interview, Curry reflected on the dynamics among her children, highlighting the positive relationship between her older son, Canon, 6, and his baby brother Caius, born in May. The couple also shares daughters Riley, 12, and Ryan, 9. “The older kids, they’re amazing. We were worried about having the six-year gap between our son and Cai Cai, and it’s been magical,” said Curry. “He truly feels like a big brother. He only wants to protect him. There’s no jealousy. I love it.”
Curry shared her relief that Canon has taken to his baby brother without issue, and this sentiment extends to her daughters as well. “The girls are like little moms,” she explained. “It’s the best decision we’ve ever made, honestly.”
Curry and her husband, NBA star Stephen Curry, adhere to a parenting philosophy that prioritizes their relationship with each other. “I think for us, our relationship always comes first,” she stated. “Then we’re parents.” She added that this approach creates a happy environment for their children. “So the family sector in our lives always comes first,” she emphasized.
During an interview in September, Ayesha noted that their family dynamic has shifted significantly since welcoming Caius. “It’s such a thin line between those precious childhood and teen years,” she said, describing the initial challenges and triumphs of navigating this stage of life. “We’re lucky — all the kids have embraced the new baby and my girls, being a little older, have even been helping me around the house.”
