Ayo Edebiri Opens Up About Her First Kiss with a Girl

NEW YORK — Ayo Edebiri, an emerging star in Hollywood, recently revealed that her first kiss was with a girl, during an interview promoting her latest film.
During an appearance on the cover of Out magazine, Edebiri shared the story of her first kiss, which took place at a party while playing spin the bottle. “My first kiss was in my friend’s house playing spin the bottle, and then I lied and told everybody that that wasn’t my first kiss, but it was,” Edebiri recalled with a laugh.
When asked if the kiss was memorable, she humorously admitted, “No, it wasn’t a good kiss.” The interview took a light-hearted turn when the interviewer inquired whether she maintained a friendship with the person she kissed. “Yeah, well, we’re not like friends still, but we’re still friendly,” Edebiri responded. She then added, “She will see this and know that it was her,” confirming that her first kiss was with a girl.
Edebiri is known for her role as the queer teen Josie in the 2023 comedy “Bottoms,” and while she does not often discuss her dating life or sexuality publicly, she recognizes the significance of representation. “Often you’ll find yourself being one of the few women of color in a room or queer person while working in Hollywood,” she expressed in a previous interview.
Moreover, she participated in a recent poll by a queer women’s website, which asked 78 queer writers, actors, and filmmakers about their favorite lesbian films, highlighting the depth of her engagement with LGBTQ+ culture.
Edebiri’s candid comments resonate with her growing fanbase, who appreciate her authenticity and willingness to discuss topics surrounding sexuality and representation in the entertainment industry.
