Baldwin Wallace Alumni Makes Broadway Debut in ‘Maybe Happy Ending’

NEW YORK, NY — Steven Huynh, a Baldwin Wallace University graduate from the class of 2021, has made his Broadway debut in the one-act South Korean musical “Maybe Happy Ending.” The production, which began performances at the Belasco Theatre, features Huynh as the offstage standby for the character Oliver, a role played by Darren Criss.
The musical officially premiered on Broadway on November 12, 2024. It follows Oliver and Claire, two human-like Helperbots, as they explore themes of loneliness and love while questioning what it truly means to be human.
Huynh expressed excitement about the production’s reception. “Witnessing the rave reviews and our expanding fan base is incredible. I feel honored to be part of such a unique show,” he said. The musical has garnered attention for its combination of humor and heartfelt moments, akin to a Pixar film.
Training at Baldwin Wallace provided Huynh with a strong foundation in the performing arts. He noted, “My experience helped me hit the ground running in show business, allowing me to grow into my artistry.”
Huynh attributes his success to a supportive community, stating, “My friends and professors challenged me every day and gave me the courage to try and to fail.”
To current students wishing to pursue Broadway careers, Huynh advised, “Treat your career like a marathon, not a sprint. Surround yourself with supportive people who believe in you.” He believes that small victories pave the way to success and encouraged aspiring performers to keep sowing the seeds for their futures.
“If you’re getting callbacks and booking work, trust that the opportunities meant for you won’t pass you by,” Huynh stated.
