FC Barcelona Expands Retail Presence with New Store in Madrid Airport
The network of FC Barcelona stores continues to grow, as the club officially opened its second Barça Store in Madrid. This event coincided with the first team’s trip for the match against Rayo Vallecano, featuring notable figures including president Joan Laporta, vice-president Rafa Yuste, and other club directors.
The newly inaugurated store is located in a prime area at C/Arenal 9, near the historic Palacio de Gaviria and close to the iconic Puerta del Sol plaza. This location is significant as it marks the first proprietary store for FC Barcelona outside of Catalunya, following the opening of the first store in December 2022, which has been one of the club’s highest-performing stores.
In addition, a new 140 square meter store has been established on the first floor of Terminal 4 at the Madrid Barajas Airport. This makes FC Barcelona the sole football club to operate a proprietary store at this major airport, which serves the largest number of passengers in Spain. The club aims for this store to be a key shopping destination for Barça fans from around the world, offering a range of merchandise including first team kits, training gear, and exclusive Barça-designed collections.
With the opening of the store in Terminal 4, FC Barcelona now operates a total of 14 proprietary Barça Stores. Of these, eight were launched during the current 2022/23 season, including significant locations within Barcelona such as Canaletes, Passeig de Gràcia, and Sagrada Família.
Furthermore, FC Barcelona maintains additional stores within El Corte Inglés, with two located in Barcelona and two others in Palma. The club took direct control of management in June 2018, establishing BLM (Barça Licensing & Merchandising) to enhance brand control and maximize merchandising rights for global expansion and retail growth.
The proprietary Barça Stores include notable locations such as Spotify Camp Nou, Canaletes, Passeig de Gràcia, Madrid, T4 Madrid Barajas, Centre Comercial Arenas, Poble Espanyol, Barça Store & Exhibition Sagrada Família, Westfield La Maquinista, Parc Central Tarragona, and two airports in Barcelona.
A recent adjustment saw the Barcelona airport store in T2 relocated to a more central position, facilitating easier access for travelers wishing to purchase club merchandise. This change was part of AENA’s initiative to improve service for passengers at the second busiest airport in Spain.
