Barrett-Jackson Auction Kicks Off in Scottsdale, Draws Global Crowds
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The 2025 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction began Saturday morning at Westworld in Scottsdale, marking the start of the Valley’s event season. The weeklong event, which attracts over 300,000 attendees annually, is expected to sell approximately 2,000 cars totaling around $200 million.
Barrett-Jackson chairman and CEO Craig Jackson emphasized the event’s global appeal. “People come from all around the world to come here. If you live here and have never been here, you should make it to Barrett-Jackson,” Jackson said. Beyond the cars, the auction features local vendors selling art, food, and other products, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
The event also has a significant economic impact, generating about $400 million for the region, including $6 million in state sales tax and $2 million for Scottsdale. Jackson highlighted the auction’s unique appeal, comparing it to major sporting events. “It’s like the open—you may not be a hardcore golfer, but it’s the atmosphere that’s fun,” he said.
Local businesses also benefit from the event. Dan Hogan, owner of a north Phoenix auto shop, has been attending Barrett-Jackson for eight years. “It’s a whole year’s worth of work for us to have cars finished and ready to sell here,” Hogan said. He works alongside his two sons, making it a family affair. “If I was at the shop and they were at home, I’d hardly ever see them,” Hogan added.
This year, the auction introduced a family day on Saturday, Jan. 18, offering free admission for children 12 and under. The event continues to grow, with organizers adding new attractions to enhance the experience for attendees.
