Rj Barrett Mourns Tragic Loss Of Younger Brother Nathan Tyler Barrett

Toronto Raptors standout RJ Barrett is currently in mourning following the heartbreaking passing of his younger brother, Nathan Tyler Barrett.

The Barrett family, which includes RJ and Nathan Barrett’s father, Rowan Barrett, who serves as the general manager for Canada Basketball, issued a heartfelt statement on Thursday announcing Nathan Barrett’s departure on Tuesday, surrounded by loved ones, church members, and close friends.

Expressing immense grief over the loss, the Barrett family emphasized that even through this difficult time, they will always treasure the moments and experiences shared with Nathan.

“Nathan was a young man of great character, driven by his faith, and possessed admirable qualities such as thoughtfulness, kindness, love, compassion, creativity, and a strong sense of direction,” the statement read without disclosing the cause of Nathan Barrett’s passing.

Due to this tragic event, RJ Barrett, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, did not participate in the Toronto Raptors’ recent game against the Pistons in Detroit, which ended in a 113-104 defeat.

The family has requested privacy as they navigate this challenging time, while also expressing gratitude for the overwhelming love, support, and prayers they have received from well-wishers.

“Although Nathan’s time with us was brief, his spirit will forever reside in our hearts,” the family’s statement concluded.

This report by The Canadian Press marks the initial publication on March 14, 2024.
