Battle of Legacy: Paswan vs. Prasad in Bansi Lok Sabha Constituency
In the political battleground of Bansi Lok Sabha seat within the Gorakhpur–Basti region, a fierce battle is brewing between the Paswan and Prasad families vying for control. Kamlesh Paswan, backed by the BJP, has been elected thrice consecutively, following in the footsteps of his mother, Subhavati Paswan, who won on the Samajwadi Party ticket in 1996.
The political landscape is now shifting, with the Congress party forming an alliance with the Samajwadi Party in Bansi Lok Sabha constituency. A historic stronghold that has seen diverse winners over the years, marked by the Congress’ Mahavir Prasad securing victory four times in a row, a feat not seen before.
Following India’s independence, Congress candidates have consistently emerged victorious from this region. In the recent general elections, Mahadev Prasad of the Congress party claimed victory, continuing the trend of Congress representatives being elected from Bansi Lok Sabha constituency.
After Mahadev Prasad, the tide turned as a non-Congress member, Molhu Prasad of the United Socialist Party, was elected in the next election. This consistent alternation of power showcases the dynamic nature of politics in the region.
The political legacy continues with the entry of a new contender, Kamlesh Paswan, fielded by the BJP, determined to uphold the Paswan name in Bansi Lok Sabha constituency. The BJP, showing confidence in his capabilities, is rallying behind him in the upcoming elections.
Heading back in history, the Ram Lahar area witnessed significant turnouts in the past elections, with the BJP and Ramanarayan Paswan securing victory in subsequent years. The election pattern has showcased the ever-changing political dynamics in the region.
