Television hosts Nina Warhurst and Jon Kay unveiled a touching tribute to their much-loved former colleague Dianne Oxberry on BBC. The segment showcased the creation of a Memorial Garden in honor of the late weather presenter who succumbed to ovarian cancer in January 2019.

The beautiful Sunshine Garden, originally designed at the Tatton Garden show in memory of Dianne, has found a new home at a hospice on the Wirral, providing solace to patients and their families.

Dianne’s husband, Iain Hindle, expressed his gratitude towards the organizers of the garden, acknowledging the significance of the gesture for his late wife. He mentioned how moved Dianne would have been by this recognition at the Tatton Flower show.

Nina and Jon, visibly emotional, spoke fondly of Dianne’s humility and impact. Despite her role as a weather presenter, Dianne remained humble and would have been both touched and slightly bashful about the garden dedicated to her. They reiterated how she is still remembered and cherished by many, with people often approaching them to share memories of her.

Five years have passed since Dianne’s sudden passing at the age of 51, just days after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her swift deterioration following a seemingly benign symptom underscores the importance of early detection in combating this lethal disease. To raise awareness, her loved ones have established a charity in her honor, aiming to increase knowledge about ovarian cancer and the need for timely diagnosis.

The BBC Breakfast show airs on BBC One each weekday morning from 6am, keeping Dianne’s memory alive in the hearts of both her former colleagues and the audience.
