Beloved Radio Personality Paul Houde Passes Away at 69
Esteemed radio host and beloved entertainment figure Paul Houde, aged 69, tragically passed away due to unforeseen complications following brain surgery. The news was shared by his brother, Pierre Houde, on social media.
Paul Houde, a prominent radio personality known for his charismatic presence, had recently undergone a successful surgery to remove a brain mass but unexpectedly suffered a fatal heart complication.
Pierre Houde expressed the family’s deep appreciation for the public’s affection towards Paul and kindly requested privacy during this difficult time.
Starting his media career in the 1970s, Paul Houde made a significant impact in radio, notably at CKAC 730 and later at 98.5 FM in Montreal. His on-air charm extended to television, where he hosted various successful shows and notably portrayed the goalkeeper Fernand ‘Fern’ Rivest in the popular film series Les Boys.
Known for his wit and engaging persona, Houde’s departure from his morning radio show, Club du Matin, in October left a void in the industry. His contributions to the entertainment world, including his humorous exchanges with Marc Labrèche and his knack for Olympic commentary, will be cherished.
Expressing his condolences, Quebec Premier François Legault highlighted Houde’s affable nature and immense talent, acknowledging his significant contributions to the media landscape.
