Ben Dawkins, a 17-year-old keeper-batter from Kent, has been selected to join the England Under-19s squad for the upcoming Youth ODI Tri-Series against Ireland and Scotland.

Dawkins has made significant strides this season, having participated in 15 matches for Kent’s Second XI. His impressive batting performance includes a notable score of 48 while opening against Zimbabwe A in a 50-over match.

In addition, he demonstrated his skills by scoring 93 runs from 89 deliveries for the England Young Lions in a one-day match versus Sri Lanka in June. He made his debut for a full Kent side during the National Counties Match against Bedfordshire, managing to secure six runs and also contributing with a catch.

His recent achievements also include representing London & East Under-18s at the ECB’s Super 4s competition, where he registered scores of 134 against a Midlands side and made additional contributions of 101 and 86 against South & West.

As more young talents are emerging from Kent, 18-year-olds Jaydn Denly and Ekansh Singh have also made appearances in the ECB national setup this year. Denly competed in the ICC Under-19s World Cup, while Singh regularly played for Kent Spitfires in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

The Youth ODI Tri-Series is scheduled to take place at Loughborough University from September 11 to September 18. Richard Halsall will step in as Head Coach during this period, as Mike Yardy will be engaged with the England Men coaching team.

Halsall expressed enthusiasm about the development of the Under-19s and aims to harness the competition with Ireland and Scotland to showcase their skills effectively.
