Ben Stiller Christine Taylor Documentary

NEW YORK, NY – Ben Stiller‘s new documentary, ‘Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost’, reflects deeply on his parents’ marriage and his own relationship with Christine Taylor. The film debuted on October 6 and explores personal themes, including Stiller’s five-year separation from Taylor, which lasted from 2017 to 2022.

In the documentary, Stiller talks about how the marriage of his parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, influenced his own life. He noted that their 50-plus year union left him feeling pressure to maintain a strong relationship with Taylor. ‘I don’t want to become my parents,’ he recalled, reflecting on the initial fears he held about being intertwined with Taylor as his parents were.

During a candid conversation captured in the film, Taylor expresses her concerns about their relationship, saying, ‘I think there was fear from you for me of what that would look like to the outside world.’ Despite these challenges, the couple reconciled during the pandemic, after spending lockdown together. Stiller described this period, saying, ‘When we separated, it was just having space to see what our relationship was.’ He added that living together during COVID offered them a chance to appreciate their family unit.

The film features reflections from both Stiller and Taylor, who share two children, Ella and Quin. Stiller confesses that throughout his separation, he felt disconnected from his family while struggling with personal issues. These challenges ultimately led to the couple rekindling their relationship, which Stiller now cherishes greatly.

Stiller’s documentary provides an intimate look at his parents’ legacy while paralleling his journey as a husband and father. ‘There’s nothing like that when you come back,’ he said about their renewed connection. ‘You have so much more appreciation for what you have, because we know we could not have it.’
