Benedict Wong Joins Cast of Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars

ROME, Italy — Benedict Wong has been cast in Ridley Scott‘s upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller, The Dog Stars. The film is currently in production in Italy and is based on the 2012 novel by Peter Heller.
Wong joins a star-studded cast that includes Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, and Guy Pearce. Details about Wong’s character remain undisclosed, but this film marks his return to working with Scott, following their collaborations in Prometheus (2012) and The Martian (2015).
The Dog Stars is set in a near-future America, ravaged by a pandemic. The story follows Hig, played by Elordi, a civilian pilot living in solitude on an abandoned airbase in Colorado with his dog and Bangley, an ex-marine played by Brolin. As the two navigate dangers from outside their isolated lives, Hig discovers a radio transmission that ignites hope for a better existence beyond their confines.
Mark L. Smith, known for his work on The Revenant, wrote the screenplay. Scott produces the film alongside Michael Pruss of Scott Free Productions, Smith, and Cliff Roberts.
Wong is also set to star in another highly anticipated project, Weapons, directed by Zach Cregger. This horror film features Brolin and is scheduled for release on August 8. Following The Dog Stars, Wang will begin work on Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, as production for its second season ramps up.
As anticipation builds for The Dog Stars, fans of Wong and Scott are eager to see what this partnership will yield in the midst of Hollywood’s growing excitement for post-apocalyptic tales.
