Buffalo Sabres Ottawa Senators Game

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The NHL slate features four games on Wednesday, including two nationally televised matchups. Notably, the Buffalo Sabres (0-3-0) are set to take on the Ottawa Senators (1-2-0) at 7 p.m. ET, with the potential return of forward Benson, who previously suffered a facial injury.

Benson, who has been recovering since sustaining his injury during practice on October 8, participated in practice Tuesday alongside center Alex Tuch and right wing Jeff Skinner. The Sabres have had a rough start to the season, managing only two goals while allowing 10 in their first three games. Head coach Lindy Ruff emphasized the need for more effort from his team.

In an exciting matchup, the Detroit Red Wings (2-1-0) will host the Florida Panthers (3-1-0) at 7 p.m. ET as well. The Red Wings aim to build on the momentum from a recent home-and-home series sweep over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Current forward Dylan Larkin has four points this season, and he is only 27 points shy of tying the record for the most prolific U.S.-born scorer in NHL history, currently held by Mike Modano.

Also on the schedule is the Chicago Blackhawks (1-2-1) game against the St. Louis Blues (2-1-0) at 9:30 p.m. ET. Blackhawks defenseman Alex Rinzel has established himself as a strong candidate for the Calder Trophy, leading his team in ice time with 21:12 per game and making an impact with one goal and eight blocked shots this season.

Meanwhile, the Utah Mammoth gear up to face the Calgary Flames at 9:30 p.m. ET after forward Kevin Conley extended his point streak to three games, showcasing a strong performance in his season opener. All eyes will be on these games as teams look to establish their records early in the season.
