Big Brother Africa Winner Karen Igho Alleges Abuse Amidst Divorce
Big Brother Africa reality TV show winner, Karen Igho, has publicly appealed for help amid a troubling divorce from her husband, Yaroslav Rakos. Utilizing her social media platform on X, Igho made serious allegations against Rakos, accusing him of physical and sexual abuse.
In a series of posts on Tuesday, Igho expressed grave concerns for her safety, urging the public to hold Rakos accountable should any harm come to her. She claimed he is attempting to gain custody of their two children by falsely asserting that she is mentally unstable. “I am going through a divorce with my husband. I have been homeless for a year now and I have been sexually and physically hurt,” she disclosed in her statement. She further mentioned, “If anything happens to me, hold the man who brought me to a country where I know no one; he is trying to take our children away by saying I’m mentally sick.”
The reality star, who relocated to the United States following her 2014 marriage to Rakos in Jos, Plateau State, expressed apprehension over her safety, stating, “In case you don’t hear from me again, know that I have been killed.”
Following the public outcry stirred by her revelations, Rakos has yet to issue a response to the allegations made against him. Advocates and followers of Igho have expressed concern and are closely monitoring the situation.
In a surprising turn of events, Igho took to X again on Wednesday, indicating her desire to reconcile with Rakos. She conveyed a hope to mend the relationship for the benefit of their children, citing a wish to focus on providing love and care to them. She wrote, “I want to thank my husband and father of my children for the wonderful years we had, and I pray we can focus on our children and shower them with love and care.” She expressed gratitude to her supporters, adding, “Thank you, Nigeria, my home, and thank you, Africa, my heartbeat. I’m a true daughter of the soil. If God is for me, who can be against me? Nobody!”
Igho and Rakos, who have been married since 2014 following a nine-year relationship, are parents to two children. The situation continues to unfold as it garners widespread attention.
