Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8: A Star-Studded Line-Up and New Host
October 7, 2024 — The latest season of the popular reality TV show “Bigg Boss Tamil” has returned with its eighth edition, bringing a host of new participants and a change in its hosting position. This time, the show features a diverse set of contestants from various fields, promising an engaging season for viewers.
The season has garnered significant attention with the announcement that Vijay Sethupathi will take over hosting duties from the veteran actor Kamal Haasan. Known for his role in “Maharaja,” Sethupathi is familiar to audiences, previously hosting “MasterChef Tamil.” According to Dainik Jagran, Sethupathi’s remuneration is reported to be considerably less than that of Haasan, with a reported earnings of approximately half that of Haasan’s fee in the previous season. Despite the differences in pay, Sethupathi’s involvement has stirred excitement among fans.
The lineup for Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 includes a mix of film and television personalities, each bringing their own appeal to the show. Director Ravindar Chandrasekaran, famed for films like “Nalanum Nandhiniyum,” is stepping into the Bigg Boss house, alongside emerging actress Sachana Namidass, known for her role in “Maharaja.”
Dharsha Gupta, recognized from “Cooku with Comali,” is among the contestants, expressing hopes of transitioning into Tamil cinema’s mainstream post her Bigg Boss tenure. Actor Sathya, known for “Neelakuyil,” and anchor Deepak Dinkar, a veteran in Tamil television, join as well, each bringing their widespread fanbase with them.
Rising stars such as Ananthi, who is known for her outspoken radio presence, and Sunitha from “Cooku with Comali,” bring diverse personalities to the platform. Musician Jeffry, with his deep connection to Gana music, hopes to use the opportunity to expand his reach.
Director Ranjith, whose recent work “Kavundampalayam” made waves, and Pavithra, known from her appearances on Vijay TV, aim to leverage the show for broader recognition. Joining them are Soundariya Nanjundan, recognized for her roles in “Darbar” and “Vera Maari Office,” and Arun Prasad, formerly of “Bharathi Kannamma.”
VJ Vishal and Anshitha Akbarsha, both familiar faces from “Cooku with Comali,” add additional attractions for fans of the culinary show. TV actor Arnav, known for “Chellamma,” is also counted among this year’s participants, each aspiring to carve a niche in the industry via this platform.
YouTuber and interviewer Muthukumaran Jagatheesan enters with intent to utilize his oratory skills, while VJ Jacqueline, with a robust social media following, rounds out this season’s eclectic mix of contestants.
The season kicked off with palpable excitement, further fueled by Sethupathi’s dapper appearance in a teaser, setting the tone for the premiere. The show, broadcasting on Vijay TV and streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, officially launched on October 6.
