Bill Burr Hosts SNL with Musical Guest Mk.gee in Post-Election Episode
Saturday Night Live (SNL) aired a new episode on November 9, 2024, marking the first post-election show of the season. Comedian Bill Burr returned as the host for his second time, having previously hosted on October 10, 2020, with musical guest Jack White.
The musical guest for the evening was Mk.gee, a singer-songwriter, producer, and guitarist making his SNL debut. Mk.gee has been gaining attention in the music world, particularly with his critically acclaimed debut album *Two Star & the Dream Police* and his latest single, “Rockman,” released in October. Following his SNL appearance, Mk.gee will continue his world tour in December with a series of sold-out shows across Australia.
Mk.gee, whose real name is Michael Todd Gordon, has been active under his moniker since 2017. For those unfamiliar, his stage name is pronounced “McGee,” as he clarified in his 2018 EP *Pronounced McGee*. The 27-year-old artist is known for his multi-instrumental skills and unique blend of alternative, experimental, and soft-psychedelic music.
The episode also featured some humorous moments, including a segment where cast member Sarah Sherman struggled to spell Mk.gee’s name, adding to the light-hearted and entertaining atmosphere of the show.
