Bill Hader Movie Theater Titanic Spoiler

LOS ANGELES, CA — Comedian and actor Bill Hader disclosed a comical incident that resulted in his firing from a movie theater job nearly 30 years ago during an appearance on Netflix’s show, “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney,” last Wednesday.

Hader, 46, revealed that while working at a Tempe, Arizona, movie theater, he spoiled the ending of director James Cameron’s iconic 1997 film, “Titanic,” for a rowdy group of sorority girls who had rented out the theater.

“I was working in a movie theater, and ‘Titanic’ hadn’t come out yet, and a sorority had bought out the movie theater,” Hader recounted. “And they were in the doorway and I was going, ‘Hey, guys. Can you guys move?”

The comedian shared how the crowd of young women responded dismissively to his requests. “They were making fun of me,” he said, recalling one sister telling him that he resembled Charles Manson. “I had a little bowtie on and cummerbund,” Hader explained. “And I was like, ‘Hey guys, please move?'”

Frustrated by their refusal to budge, Hader decided to take revenge in his own amusing way. “So when they went in, as I tore the tickets, I was like, ‘Enjoy the movie. The boat sinks at the end. Leo dies,'” he remembered. “And they were like, ‘No, he doesn’t.’ I go, ‘Yeah, you think he’s asleep. But he’s frozen.’ And that showed them.”

Although Hader’s manager found the stunt entertaining, it did not save him from termination. “He was like, ‘Hey, Bill. I have to fire you,'” Hader told Mulaney, adding that the manager couldn’t maintain eye contact while delivering the news.

The incident has earned Hader a wave of support on social media, with many fans applauding his antics. One user wrote, “A level of pettiness I can get behind,” while another stated, “This is completely valid honestly.” Others expressed amusement regarding the idea of spoiling a historical event, with one commenter noting, “[T]he boat sinks at the end, yeah I think everyone knew that.”

Hader’s revelation is not just a funny anecdote; it highlights the sometimes humorous lengths individuals will go to when faced with disrespect. While the sorority girls may have intended to have a good time, Hader ensured they carried a memorable experience — albeit not the one they expected.
