LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The highly anticipated horror film ‘Nosferatu,’ starring Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, and Nicholas Hoult, is now available for digital streaming. The film, directed by Robert Eggers, premiered in theaters on Dec. 25, 2024, and has since grossed $156.3 million worldwide, making it Eggers’ highest-grossing film to date.

The R-rated movie, a reimagining of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent horror classic, follows the gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman, Ellen Hutter (Depp), and the terrifying vampire Count Orlok (Skarsgård). Nicholas Hoult plays Thomas Hutter, a real estate agent tasked with helping the mysterious count find a new estate, only to uncover Orlok’s sinister intentions.

‘Nosferatu’ became available for digital purchase on Monday at 9 p.m. PT (Tuesday 12 a.m. ET) on platforms including AppleTV and Fandango at Home. It is also available for rental on Prime Video for $19.99 or purchase for $24.99. The digital release includes both the 132-minute theatrical cut and a 136-minute extended version, along with special features such as deleted scenes.

In a Zoom interview prior to the film’s theatrical release, Eggers revealed that Skarsgård’s haunting performance as Pennywise in the 2019 film ‘IT: Chapter Two’ inspired him to cast the actor as Count Orlok. ‘It was [Bill’s role] as Pennywise, but in IT: Chapter Two, when he played Pennywise as a middle-aged human man instead of a clown. It just had a kind of darkness and depth that I really believed,’ Eggers said. ‘So, that’s when I emailed or texted Bill and said, ‘Let’s talk about Orlok.’’

The film also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Willem Dafoe. Critics have praised ‘Nosferatu’ for its impeccable craftsmanship, with Meagan Navarro describing it as ‘operatic and dramatic, bold and revolting, with a powerful final shot for the ages.’ The film holds a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Universal will release ‘Nosferatu’ on Blu-ray on Feb. 18, 2025, offering fans another way to experience the macabre masterpiece. With its Christmas setting and visceral horror, the film is poised to become a new holiday horror classic.
