Biltmore Estate to Reopen in November After Hurricane Helene Damage
The Biltmore Estate, a major tourist attraction in Asheville, North Carolina, is set to reopen on November 2 after suffering significant damage from Hurricane Helene. The estate, which spans 8,000 acres and welcomes 1.4 million visitors annually, was forced to close due to the extensive damage caused by the hurricane last month.
Despite the damage, key areas such as the Biltmore House, conservatory, winery, gardens, and overnight properties were reported to have minimal or no damage, according to the estate’s website.
The reopening is timed to coincide with the estate’s Christmas at Biltmore celebration, a popular holiday event. In a statement posted on social media, the Biltmore Estate highlighted the resilience of the community and the ongoing recovery efforts. “For more than 125 years, Biltmore has been a witness to the resilience of this community. The compassion and resolve of our region have been rising every day from beneath the weight of this storm,” the statement read.
In addition to the reopening, the Biltmore Estate has pledged $2 million to relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene, which severely impacted western North Carolina, including Asheville.
