Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Feud Escalates in ‘It Ends With Us’ Lawsuit
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni over their collaboration on the film “It Ends With Us” has intensified, with new audio and text messages revealing the depth of their feud. The dispute, which began during production, has now spilled into the courts, with both parties filing lawsuits and counter-lawsuits.
Lively, 37, and Baldoni, who directed and co-starred in the romantic drama, clashed over creative decisions, particularly regarding changes to a rooftop scene. Text messages from April 2023, included in Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit, show Lively expressing frustration over his lukewarm response to her revisions. In one message, she compared herself to the character Khaleesi from “Game of Thrones,” referring to her husband Ryan Reynolds and best friend Taylor Swift as her “dragons.”
Baldoni responded with a voicemail, obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, in which he apologized for his initial reaction. “I fell short,” he admitted, praising Lively’s work ethic and creative vision. However, tensions continued to escalate, with Lively accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment during filming, a claim he vehemently denies.
The lawsuit also alleges that Lively used Reynolds and Swift to pressure Baldoni into accepting her version of the script. Baldoni’s legal team has accused Lively of orchestrating a negative publicity campaign, while her lawyers have countered by accusing Baldoni of attempting to taint the jury pool by releasing selected documents online.
The film, based on Colleen Hoover‘s 2016 bestseller, was released in August 2024 and became a box office hit. However, the behind-the-scenes drama has overshadowed its success. A trial date has been set for March 2026, with both sides preparing for a protracted legal battle.
In a separate filing, Lively has requested a deposition from Jed Wallace, a crisis management specialist she alleges was behind a social media campaign to turn public sentiment against her. Wallace, who is not a defendant in the lawsuit, has yet to respond to the allegations.
As the legal drama unfolds, the future of “It Ends With Us” remains uncertain, with both Lively and Baldoni facing significant reputational and financial stakes.
