Blake Treinen: Dodgers Pitcher Pursues Faith While Aiming for Championship

LOS ANGELES, California — As the Los Angeles Dodgers defend their title in the World Series, relief pitcher Blake Treinen focuses on a different goal: spreading his faith.
“How do we make heaven crowded? That’s really my goal,” Treinen shared recently. The 37-year-old from Kansas, who has played for the Dodgers since 2020, emphasized that honoring God with his gifts is essential to him.
After undergoing shoulder surgery that sidelined him for the entire 2023 season, Treinen’s commitment to his faith remains steadfast. He stated, “I don’t care if the world knows or remembers my name. I want people to see Christ’s greatness.”
Treinen highlighted the importance of faith in his life, asserting, “I don’t want to see any of my teammates or anybody in the stands… face the alternative.” His remarks reflect a deep sense of purpose amid his athletic career.
In past interviews, Treinen expressed how his relationship with Jesus shapes his time on the field. “He’s my everything,” he told CBN Sports. He marks his faith during games by drawing a cross and pointing upward to remind fans of his beliefs.
With gratitude, Treinen acknowledged the support he has received through challenges, saying, “None more faithful than God.” As he reflects on his recovery from injury, he described past experiences as “mini miracles” that have reinforced his faith.
The pitcher has been open about discussing faith with others, preferring heartfelt conversations over traditional evangelizing methods. “It works better than thumping people with the Bible,” he explained.
Notably, Treinen made headlines recently when he wore a tribute on his cap to conservative commentator Kirk, who was assassinated last month. His cap featured crosses alongside Kirk’s name, signifying Treinen’s blend of sports and faith in the public eye.
