Bloober Team Promises Patch for Silent Hill 2 Performance Issues

Warsaw, Poland – Developer Bloober Team has confirmed that it is still working on a patch to improve performance for the PS5 Pro version of its horror game remake, Silent Hill 2. Many players have reported persistent graphical issues since the Pro support was added late last year.
Fans of the game have expressed frustration on social media, fearing that Bloober Team had abandoned plans for additional fixes. However, in a recent statement to Eurogamer, the studio assured players, “We’re working with the publisher on a solution and will share more details as soon as we have them.” As of now, the timeline for the patch’s release remains unclear.
Technical reviews have pointed out several notable issues with the PS5 Pro version. Digital Foundry highlighted “glaring image stability issues” and problems with PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) upscaling. Players have complained that the game does not deliver the enhanced experience it advertised. One disappointed player remarked, “It’s really scummy to advertise a game as Pro Enhanced when it actually plays worse than the base unit.”
Despite these technical shortcomings, the Silent Hill 2 remake has received generally positive reviews. Critics noted that Bloober Team has succeeded in expanding the iconic 2001 PlayStation 2 game, adding new areas and cutscenes while reimagining classic locations like Brookhaven Hospital and Lakeview Hotel. Eurogamer’s review stated, “Against the odds, Bloober Team has delivered a remake that both expands Silent Hill 2 in just the right places, and gives careful attention to what it preserves.” The game sold over a million copies within its first week, indicating high anticipation among fans.
While players wait for the promised improvements, those using the base PS5 version report a smoother experience compared to the Pro version. One suggestion from the community was to switch out of Performance mode to avoid the graphical glitches, though quality mode also has its flaws.
As Bloober Team continues its work on the upcoming patch, many fans will be hoping for a resolution that enhances their gameplay experience. The studio is also reportedly developing a new horror project titled Cronos: The New Dawn, set to be released later this year.
