Bluesfest To End After 2025 Event

One of Australia’s most beloved music festivals, Byron Bay Bluesfest, will come to an end after its 2025 event. The festival, which has been a staple on the Easter weekend for 35 years, has been known for celebrating blues, roots, and various other music genres.

Festival director Peter Noble announced the bittersweet news, expressing his desire to make the last festival an unforgettable experience for fans. He stated, “After more than 50 years in the music business, Bluesfest has been a labour of love, a celebration of music, community, and the resilient spirit of our fans.”

Noble added that although he is excited for next year’s festival, it is indeed the last one. This decision comes in light of recent challenges in the festival industry, including rising costs and multiple high-profile cancellations in Australia.

Bluesfest has been known to attract around 100,000 fans each year, showcasing over 200 performances across five days. In recent history, festivals like Big Day Out, Soundwave, and Stereosonic have also met their end, highlighting the troubling trend within the industry.

The festival has featured an impressive lineup of artists over the years, including music legends like Bob Dylan, Kendrick Lamar, and Jack Johnson. However, it hasn’t been without controversy. Last year’s event faced scrutiny due to allegations involving a performer.

Despite these hurdles, festival organizers are encouraging fans to join in for the final celebration, promising a lineup that will honor its legacy. Early-bird tickets for the 2025 edition are already available, and fans are eager to see who will be part of this historic event.
