Boeing Commercial And Defense Aircraft Delivery

CHICAGO, Ill. — Boeing Co. reported on Tuesday it exceeded first-quarter delivery estimates, successfully navigating challenges posed by safety incidents and labor disruptions from last year.

The aerospace giant delivered 130 commercial aircraft and 26 defense and space vehicles in the first three months of 2024. This figure surpasses analyst expectations of 125 commercial deliveries and 20 defense aircraft, as compiled by Visible Alpha. Last year, Boeing’s production was temporarily halted after a safety investigation following an incident involving a detached door panel on a Boeing 737 Max during a flight.

According to Jefferies analysts, Boeing’s strong performance in the first quarter positions the company to deliver a total of 526 commercial aircraft by the end of this year, reflecting a staggering 51% increase from 2024 and nearly matching its deliveries from 2023. This positive outlook comes as the company seeks recovery following substantial production setbacks.

Boeing’s stock experienced nearly a 3% increase on Tuesday, making it the second-largest gainer in the S&P 500 index. The stock has been volatile, particularly after recent tariff announcements from the Trump administration that had significant impacts on the market.

Despite these challenges, Boeing continues to face scrutiny over allegations of defrauding the government related to safety violations. The company is set to report its first-quarter financial results on April 23.

In related news, market fluctuations impacted other sectors, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 displaying mixed results amid ongoing concerns regarding tariffs. Meanwhile, the tech-heavy Nasdaq index benefited from gains among tech stocks, including a rise in shares of Apple Inc., which reclaimed its title as the world’s most valuable company.
