MUMBAI, India — Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was hospitalized early Thursday after an unidentified intruder attacked him with a sharp weapon at his Bandra West residence. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. while Khan, 54, was sleeping alongside his family.

According to police, the assailant fled the scene after family members awoke during the altercation. Authorities are investigating the incident as an attempted robbery and have launched a manhunt for the suspect. A senior IPS officer confirmed the attack, stating that Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital with multiple injuries.

Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, provided details about Khan’s condition. “Saif was brought in at 3:30 a.m. with six injuries, two of which are deeper. One injury is close to his spine,” Uttamani said. “He is currently undergoing surgery by a team of specialists, including neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain.”

Khan, a prominent Bollywood actor known for films like *Omkara* and *Tanhaji*, resides in the Satguru Sharan building with his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, and their two sons, Taimur, 8, and Jeh, 4. The couple has been married since 2012.

The Bandra police are in the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) and have formed multiple teams to apprehend the suspect. The Mumbai Crime Branch is also conducting a parallel investigation. “It is unclear whether Khan was stabbed or injured during a scuffle with the intruder,” the IPS officer added.

Khan, the son of actress Sharmila Tagore and cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan, made his Bollywood debut in 1993 with *Parampara*. He has since starred in numerous critically acclaimed films, earning a reputation as one of India’s most versatile actors.
