Borderlands 4 State of Play Set for April 30 Broadcast

LOS ANGELES, April 29, 2025 — 2K and Gearbox Software have announced a special State of Play dedicated to the upcoming game Borderlands 4, scheduled to air on April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST. The broadcast will showcase over 20 minutes of exclusive gameplay, offering fans a closer look at the game’s mechanics and features.
During the livestream, Gearbox Software’s Creative Director Graeme Timmins will join other team members, including Senior Project Producer Anthony Nicholson. Timmins expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “Get ready for a deep dive on Borderlands 4! We’ll share the nitty-gritty details of how you’ll wreak havoc across Kairos and take down the Timekeeper.”
Set on the planet Kairos, players will assume the role of one of four new Vault Hunters. They will navigate a world dominated by the Timekeeper, a ruthless dictator threatening both wealth and glory for hopeful adventurers. As players fight against mechanical foes, bandit tribes, and wild creatures, they will harness an arsenal of powerful Action Skills to confront the challenge.
The livestream will cover various gameplay elements, including missions, weapons, and character abilities. Timmins emphasized the cooperative element, noting that players can engage in battles alone or with up to three friends. He added, “Expect an adventure packed with free-form combat, pulse-pounding boss fights, and an eclectic cast of unforgettable characters from previous games.”
In addition to the gameplay reveal, Gearbox announced that the release date for Borderlands 4 has been moved up to September 12, 2025, two weeks earlier than initially planned. This change is likely to give players more time to enjoy the game before the busy fall release schedule.
Viewers can watch the State of Play on PlayStation’s Twitch and YouTube channels. Fans are encouraged to wishlist Borderlands 4 on the PlayStation Store ahead of its launch.
