Brandi Carlile Makah Singers The Americas

SEATTLE, Wash. — On February 25, 2025, Grammy Award-winning artist Brandi Carlile released her latest single, “Wandering,” which features a collaboration with the Makah Singers. The track was created for NBC‘s new nature series, The Americas, which premiered this week.

In a statement highlighting her excitement, Carlile said, “When I was approached to write and perform a song for The Americas, I was absolutely thrilled. For me, the Makah people have been the bedrock of what it means to truly know the Pacific Northwest. Alongside the many proud tribes of the PNW, they are and always will be the heart and soul at the gates of the Salish Sea. Of course, this gorgeous and thought-provoking series spans the entire continent and miles and miles of Indigenous peoples’ land. ‘Wandering’ is so much more than a song.”

The Americas, narrated by renowned composer Hans Zimmer, is an ambitious project produced by the BBC Studios Natural History Unit, marking the first nature series exclusively focused on the Americas. A synopsis of the show describes it as showcasing “the wonders, secrets and fragilities of the world’s great supercontinent,” utilizing advanced technology to reveal unique wildlife behaviors and untold stories. Over five years, the series was filmed during 180 expeditions across the continent.

Additionally, Carlile is promoting her upcoming collaborative LP, Who Believes in Angels?, set to release on April 4 via Interscope Records. Earlier this month, Carlile and her collaborator performed their single “Who Believes in Angels?” and enlisted photographer David LaChapelle, a frequent collaborator of John, to direct the music video.
