Brandy Rita Ora Descendants Wicked Wonderland Official Announcement

Burbank, Calif. – May 6, 2025 – Disney Branded Television announced today that superstars Brandy and Rita Ora will reprise their roles as Cinderella and the Queen of Hearts, respectively, in the fifth installment of the popular ‘Descendants’ franchise, officially titled ‘Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.’

Also returning are Paolo Montalban as King Charming and Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother, making her the only actor to have appeared in all five movies of the series. The film is currently in production and is set to debut in 2026 on Disney Channel and Disney+.

“Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” continues the adventures of Red, played by Kylie Cantrall, and Chloe, portrayed by Malia Baker. The film picks up after their time-traveling experiences in the previous movie, “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” and explores the meaning of “happily ever after” following the cautionary message about altering time.

The majority of the movie will take place in present-day Wonderland, featuring both new and familiar characters. Additional cast members include Liamani Segura as Pink, Brendon Tremblay as Max, Alexandro Byrd as Luis, Kiara Romero as Hazel, Joel Oulette as Robbie, Zavien Garret as Felix, Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis as the Smee Twins, and Leonardo Nam as Maddox.

Kimmy Gatewood, known for her work on “Muppets Mayhem,” directs the project, with a script co-written by Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer. Executive producers Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh return for this installment, while Gatewood also serves as co-producer.

Choreographer Emilio Dosal will create new music-and-dance sequences which are a hallmark of the “Descendants” series. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the franchise, which first aired in July 2015, with each of the earlier films ranking as the most-watched cable movies in their release years.

Additionally, “Descendants: The Rise of Red” became the most-watched original movie on Disney+ among girls aged 6-11 and generated over 10 billion social media impressions.

With a legacy of gold-certified soundtracks, multiple Billboard No. 1 hits, and numerous books, the “Descendants” franchise continues to captivate audiences around the world. Fans can look forward to a celebration of both franchises this summer in 43 arenas across North America.
