Breanna Nix American Idol Disney Night

LOS ANGELES, CA — Breanna Nix, a 25-year-old stay-at-home mom from Texas, continues to impress American Idol viewers as she moves into the Top 7. Nix aims to become the second woman to win the competition in as many years.

On Disney Night, she performed “Reflection,” a song originally recorded by Christina Aguilera for the 1998 animated film Mulan. Many viewers applauded her rendition, calling it stunning. “Dude, Breanna just kilt that performance,” said Melissa Racicot on Twitter.

Her emotional performance resonated with fans and reflected her personal journey. Since giving birth to her son, Emerson, in 2021, Nix has lost over 100 pounds. “I just remember being in the delivery room and just looking down at him knowing that, if I wanted to be the best mom that I could, this lifestyle was not going to work,” she shared. “I decided to lose weight.”

Nix’s journey on American Idol has also helped her grow as a person. “I didn’t really think that it would go anywhere. It was kind of just a joke when I submitted a video and here we are,” she said. “It’s taught me who I am. It’s taught me what I’m capable of.”

The audience has embraced both Nix and her son, who notably sat on judge Carrie Underwood’s lap during her audition. Reflecting on Mother’s Day, Nix remarked, “Moms should be appreciated the most.”

Meanwhile, American Idol is gearing up for a decisive week ahead where finalists will compete for a chance to be crowned the season 23 winner.
