Brittany Snow Joins ‘The Night Agent’ Season 2 as Peter’s New Partner
LOS ANGELES — Fans of *The Night Agent* were left wondering about Peter Sutherland‘s fate after Season 1, and the show’s second season promises to deliver even more twists. When the series returns on Jan. 23, viewers will find Peter (Gabriel Basso) sharing a romantic-looking stroll through Bangkok, Thailand, with newcomer Alice, played by *Pitch Perfect* star Brittany Snow. But appearances can be deceiving: Alice isn’t Peter’s love interest — she’s his new mentor and partner in the high-stakes Night Agent program.
Showrunner Shawn Ryan told Tudum that Snow’s natural charm was key to making Alice a relatable character. “So even when you’re like, ‘Well, wait a second, who’s this woman holding hands with Peter? Where’s Rose?’ You still don’t hate her,” Ryan said. “You might not think ‘Brittany Snow’ when you think of *The Night Agent*, but I knew she could do it. And she was really game.”
Snow’s character, Alice, dives headfirst into the action alongside Peter as they track Warren (Teddy Sears), a high-level American intelligence officer suspected of orchestrating a major intelligence leak. Their mission takes a dangerous turn as they navigate the bustling streets of Bangkok, ultimately facing off against armed adversaries. The Season 2 premiere clip teases a high-octane chase sequence, with Peter running for his life through the city’s labyrinthine alleys.
Ryan emphasized the importance of plunging viewers directly into the drama. “I didn’t want to waste too much time with Peter training to be a Night Agent,” he explained. “What I wanted was a feeling that Peter is not at home. Peter is out of his element — and is the stranger in a new land.”
Season 2 picks up approximately nine months after the events of Season 1, which saw Peter save President Michelle Travers’ life during the Camp David incident. His heroism earned him a spot in the Night Action program, but the transition has been anything but smooth. “Peter was thrown right from the Camp David incident into training. Then on top of that, he’s thrown into the field,” Basso told Tudum. “He’s just not getting an inhale moment — a moment to acclimate.”
As Peter struggles to find his footing in this new world, the stakes have never been higher. By the end of the premiere clip, he’s surrounded by gun-wielding enemies, leaving viewers to wonder: How will he escape this latest crisis? Will Alice prove to be a reliable ally? And what will Rose (Luciane Buchanan), Peter’s trusted companion from Season 1, think of his new partnership?
To find out, fans will have to tune in when *The Night Agent* Season 2 premieres on Jan. 23. For more updates and behind-the-scenes insights, stay tuned to Tudum.
