Broadway’s ‘Death Becomes Her’ Cast to Perform on The Tonight Show
NEW YORK — The cast of Broadway‘s ‘Death Becomes Her‘ will make their first late-night television appearance on ‘The Tonight Show‘ on Monday, January 27, at 11:35 p.m. ET/10:35 p.m. CT on NBC. The performance marks a significant milestone for the musical, which has garnered attention for its star-studded cast and creative team.
The musical, based on the 1992 cult classic film, stars Tony Award nominees Megan Hilty, Jennifer Simard, and Christopher Sieber, alongside Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams. The ensemble also includes Marija Abney, Lauren Celentano, Sarita Colon, and others, under the direction and choreography of Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli.
‘Death Becomes Her’ tells the story of Madeline Ashton, a fading star, and Helen Sharp, her long-suffering frenemy, whose lives are transformed by a mysterious potion that grants eternal youth. The musical features a book by Marco Pennette and an original score by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey.
Jennifer Simard and Christopher Sieber recently performed ‘That Was Then, This is Now’ from the musical on TODAY‘s Citi Concert Series, offering a sneak peek of what audiences can expect. ‘This is a story about rivalry, revenge, and the lengths people will go to for beauty and immortality,’ said Simard in a recent interview.
The Tonight Show appearance is expected to draw significant attention to the production, which has already generated buzz for its innovative staging and performances. ‘We’re thrilled to bring this story to a wider audience,’ said director Christopher Gattelli. ‘The cast has worked tirelessly to capture the humor and heart of the original film while making it uniquely their own.’
Tickets for ‘Death Becomes Her’ are now on sale, with performances scheduled to begin in February 2025 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Fans can also catch exclusive behind-the-scenes content and photos on BroadwayWorld.
