Denver Broncos Davis Webb Bo Nix Coaching

Davis Webb, the Denver Broncos‘ quarterbacks coach, is gaining attention as a potential head coaching candidate after helping rookie quarterback Bo Nix achieve a standout season. Webb, who turns 30 later this month, has reportedly been requested for an interview by the New Orleans Saints for their head-coaching vacancy, according to Fox SportsJordan Schultz.

Webb’s work with Nix has been instrumental in the Broncos’ resurgence. Nix, a rookie out of Oregon, threw for 29 touchdowns and ran for four more, totaling 34 touchdowns in his debut season. This performance ranks him among the top rookie quarterbacks in NFL history. Nix’s growth was evident after a slow start, as he reduced his interceptions from four in the first two weeks to just eight over the next 15 games, leading the Broncos to their first playoff appearance since 2015.

Webb’s coaching journey began immediately after retiring as a player in 2023. He spent six seasons in the NFL, primarily as a backup, and made his only career start in the final game of the 2022 season for the New York Giants. His transition to coaching was seamless, and his ability to develop Nix has not gone unnoticed. Webb’s connection to Broncos head coach Sean Payton, who has a strong relationship with Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, likely played a role in his emergence as a candidate.

In addition to the Saints’ interest, Webb has been linked to other coaching opportunities. With several teams evaluating their staffs after disappointing seasons, Webb’s name has surfaced as a potential offensive coordinator candidate. His ties to the Giants, where he played for three seasons, make him a natural fit for their coaching search.

Webb’s rise is part of a broader trend of young coaches gaining prominence in the NFL. His success with Nix and his ability to adapt quickly to a coaching role have made him a sought-after figure in league circles. As coaching changes continue across the NFL, Webb’s future will be one to watch.
