Broncos Prepare for Eagles with Familiar Fight Song

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton has a unique tactic to get his players ready for away games. He paints the opposing team’s logo at midfield during practices. This week, as the Broncos face the Philadelphia Eagles, players were greeted with the Eagles’ iconic eagle-head logo and the sound of their fight song during warm-ups.
“FLY EAGLES FLY, ON THE ROAD TO VICTORY…” echoed through the practice field, prompting reactions from players. Edge rusher Nik Bonitto called it “b.s.,” while acknowledging Payton’s intention to get the team fired up for their upcoming challenge.
“Whatever his goal was, I feel like it worked,” said fellow edge rusher Jonathon Cooper. “I’m a motivated guy, and I love competition. Clearly, we know what we’re up against this weekend.”
Right tackle Mike McGlinchey, who hails from the Philadelphia area, had a different perspective on the fight song. “It’s a song I’ve been hearing since I was a kindergartner,” he said. “I’m used to it. It’s cool when they win, but hopefully we don’t hear that song a lot this week.”
The Eagles come into Sunday’s game with an impressive record, having lost only once in the past year and boasting a 13-game winning streak at home. The Broncos, conversely, have struggled on the road, going 0-5 this season away from home.
Their performance up until now has been inconsistent. At home, they remain undefeated, winning by an average of 19.6 points, while their away games have been marked by close losses. “We’ve been close, but we have to close the deal,” Cooper remarked. “We’ve faced reigning champions before, and we’re more experienced this time.”
With Jalen Hurts leading the Eagles’ offense, the Broncos are looking to establish their identity against a formidable opponent. A win in this matchup could help solidify their status as true contenders for the rest of the season.
