Denver Broncos Comeback Game 2025

DENVER, Colo. — The Denver Broncos made NFL history on Sunday as they staged an incredible comeback to defeat the New York Giants 33-32 at Empower Field at Mile High. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Broncos trailed by 19 points, but rallied to score 33 points in a stunning display of resilience.

Quarterback Bo Nix led the charge, orchestrating four touchdowns and converting two two-point plays. The comeback not only tied for the biggest fourth-quarter rally in Broncos history but also set a team record for the most points scored in a single quarter.

“I don’t even know how to score 33 points in a quarter,” Nix said after the thrilling victory. “That’s kind of insane.” The Broncos (5-2) took a commanding lead in the AFC West with their fourth straight win.

Fans were first disillusioned as the Broncos managed only 8 points through three quarters. However, the tide turned after linebacker Justin Strnad intercepted a pass from Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, setting the stage for Nix to throw a touchdown pass to RJ Harvey, narrowing the gap to 26-23.

“That probably was the difference in winning and losing the game,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said of Strnad’s pivotal interception.

The Giants (5-2) responded with a touchdown to briefly regain momentum, but Nix answered back with an 18-yard rushing touchdown that gave Denver a 30-26 lead, further thrilling the crowd of 75,788.

As tension rose, the Broncos faced a last-minute drive, eventually culminating in Wil Lutz’s 39-yard field goal that clinched the win. “You have to keep believing until the clock says zero,” said wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who was instrumental in the final scoring plays.

Payton celebrated the victory, despite the earlier struggles in the game and expressed relief at the team’s ability to push past doubt. “We had to find a way to clean up our mess,” he said. The win marked a significant moment for the team and its fans, especially during the emotional “Alumni Weekend” celebrating the 2015 Super Bowl champions.

“Having the biggest comeback in Broncos history is huge and we’re so excited,” said rookie wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. “It was a crazy back-and-forth game.” As the clock ran down, Broncos players and fans rejoiced in a historic comeback that will remain etched in NFL lore.
