Denver, Colorado – The Denver Broncos have signed wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey off the New York Giants‘ practice squad, according to ESPN’s lead NFL insider Adam Schefter. The signing was officially confirmed by Humphrey’s agent, Jimmy Gould.

Humphrey is expected to be active for the Broncos’ crucial game against the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday. This marks a return to Denver for the 27-year-old receiver, who played for the Broncos for the past two seasons before joining the Giants this offseason.

After being on the practice squad, the Broncos decided to bring Humphrey back to reinforce their receiving corps. Coach Sean Payton, who previously oversaw Humphrey’s development, expressed confidence in the wideout’s blocking skills and versatility, stating, “He’s real smart, so he can play all three positions. He’s a big target with good instincts.”

Humphrey is known for his blocking ability, which can help improve the Broncos’ screen game, an area they have struggled with recently. Last season, he played a significant role, logging a 50% snap share on offense.

In a corresponding roster move, the Broncos placed inside linebacker Karene Reid on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. This move allows the team to make room for Humphrey on their 53-man roster.

The Broncos have been actively reshuffling their wide receiver depth, bringing in offensive tackle Garon Christian from the Dallas Cowboys practice squad earlier this week. Humphrey’s signing adds depth and experience to the receiving unit alongside Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Pat Bryant, and Trent Sherfield.

“It’ll be interesting to see how this affects the wide receiver rotation, especially since rookie Mims has missed the last two games due to a concussion but is expected to return,” said Schefter.

With Humphrey back in the mix, the Broncos aim to enhance their offensive strategy heading into their match against the Chiefs, hoping to capitalize on his blocking prowess and experience.
