Boulder, Colorado — The Colorado Buffaloes are gearing up to face off against the No. 25 BYU Cougars on Saturday night at Folsom Field. Coming off a solid win against Wyoming, the Buffs aim to improve on their 2-2 record as they navigate the challenging Big 12 schedule.

Last week’s game showcased quarterback Kaidon Salter‘s dynamic abilities, particularly during a 68-yard touchdown pass to receiver Sincere Brown. This display demonstrates the potential of the Buffaloes’ offensive strategy, particularly under Salter, who excels when plays break down.

“At the end of the day, you gotta play,” Brown noted, highlighting the importance of teamwork and adapting during the game. His recent performance has made him a key player as he brings experience and size, standing at 6-foot-5, after transferring from Campbell.

Brown had a standout season in 2024 at Campbell, where he recorded 61 receptions for over 1,000 yards. He is eager to prove himself at a higher level, using his past experiences as motivation. “I got a little doubted when I got here,” said Brown. “In my head, I kind of don’t pay attention to those things. I just put my head down and worked.”

Buffs head coach Deion Sanders has emphasized the need for consistency and accountability on the field. Despite the team’s rocky start to the season, the improvements in tackling, particularly on special teams, have been a bright spot. “We want consistency all across the board,” Sanders said.

Defensively, the Buffaloes face a significant test against a BYU offense led by true freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier, who has already impressed with his poise and completion rate. The Cougars have not allowed much this season and rank high in national statistics for rushing defense.

“They’re a very disciplined group,” CU receiver Joseph Williams remarked, noting the challenge ahead. The Buffs will need to focus on minimizing mistakes and staying sharp against a physical opponent.

This matchup has additional significance, as it’s a rematch following BYU’s victory over CU in the Alamo Bowl last December. With the Cougars playing well and leading the conference, Sanders understands the importance of this game. “It’s a conference game, so it means more,” he said.

As the Buffs prepare for the game, they still have about 1,000 tickets available for fans wishing to attend. They will also treat audiences to a drone show at halftime, making for a memorable event.
