Bulls Rally for Thrilling 128-123 Win Over Hawks
CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Bulls delivered a thrilling performance on Monday night, overcoming a 13-point deficit to defeat the Atlanta Hawks 128-123. Josh Giddey led the charge with 18 points and 13 rebounds, helping the Bulls improve to a perfect 3-0 this season, their best start since the 2021-22 campaign.
The Bulls managed to secure the win in a game that featured 15 lead changes, with Giddey sealing the victory by sinking two free throws with just 7.7 seconds left. ‘I just focused on my routine and executed under pressure,’ Giddey said after the game.
The Hawks, who dropped to 1-3, were led by Jalen Johnson‘s 27 points and 25 rebounds, but could not maintain control in the game’s closing moments. Atlanta’s Kristaps Porzingis played a significant role after missing two games due to flu-like symptoms, contributing 21 points and 17 assists.
The game was tightly contested throughout. At halftime, the Bulls trailed by just one point, 58-57. However, they erupted in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 41-34 and building an 11-point lead at one point. ‘We changed our tempo, and that made all the difference,’ said Bulls coach Billy Donovan.
Despite their efforts, the Hawks fought back in the fourth quarter, opening with a 9-2 run that briefly put them ahead. However, Bulls’ Ayo Dosunmu came off the bench to lead all scorers with 21 points, making pivotal shots that kept Chicago in contention.
Next up, the Bulls will face the Sacramento Kings at home, where they will welcome back guard Zach LaVine for the first time since his trade.
