Calgary Man Charged After Drugs, Firearms, and Cash Seized in Police Operation
Calgary police have arrested and charged a local man following a significant operation that led to the seizure of drugs, firearms, and cash. The arrest came after a three-month-long investigation into the individual, culminating in a search warrant being executed at a residence located in the 300 block of Evansridge Park Northwest in the community of Evanston on June 3.
During the search, law enforcement confiscated a substantial amount of illegal substances, firearms, and a considerable sum of money.
Simultaneously, on the same day, authorities tried to pull over the suspect in the nearby community of Sherwood around 2 p.m. However, the suspect evaded the police, engaging in a high-speed chase that involved running multiple red lights and stop signs. The pursuit ended with the suspect crashing the vehicle by hitting a sidewalk curb.
After the crash, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and switched to a previously parked, unoccupied pickup truck nearby. The individual then continued the risky escape attempt by driving through red lights, stop signs, and even reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h in a school zone.
By 2:45 p.m., the suspect parked the second vehicle in Evanston and tried to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by the police. Calgary police acting Staff Sgt. Raymond Kelly expressed concern over the suspect’s reckless actions, emphasizing the danger posed to the community during the pursuit.
The arrested individual faces a range of charges including possession of drugs for trafficking, fleeing from a police officer, dangerous driving, and possession of property obtained through crime. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on June 21 for further legal proceedings.
