Cameron Jordan Sets New Record with 229 Games for Saints

SEATTLE, WA — Cameron Jordan will take the field today as the New Orleans Saints face the Seattle Seahawks, marking his 229th regular-season game with the franchise. This achievement surpasses the legendary Drew Brees, who previously held the franchise record with 228 games.
When asked about the significance of this milestone, Jordan, 36, initially made a playful remark, saying, “I’m the greatest!” However, he quickly shifted to express his gratitude, saying, “It’s a combination of being blessed and highly favored as well as the luck of the draw to be able to play this many games.”
Jordan’s durability is noteworthy; he has missed only two games since being drafted in the first round by the Saints in 2011. The first was due to a positive COVID-19 test in 2020, and the other was due to a fractured orbital bone in 2022.
“In my mind, I’m playing every game of my existence,” Jordan remarked. “That’s through all the injuries.” His commitment is evident, and it has helped him play at a high level for an impressive 15 seasons. He is also the team’s all-time leader in sacks.
His teammates recognize his significant impact both on and off the field. Third-year defensive lineman Bryan Bresee commented, “It’s crazy… but he puts in the work and treats his body the right way.” Former offensive lineman Terron Armstead added, “As you get older, those weeks become longer to prepare for. So Cam going into Year 15 is not surprising.”
As Jordan continues to set records, his ambitions extend beyond the football field. He once expressed a desire to become a P.E. teacher, driven by his love for children and community. Yet, with such a successful football career, a future in media seems likely, given his personality and past guest appearances on television.
“If you can hide the facility, then Cam will retire,” Armstead joked, noting that Jordan is likely to keep playing as long as he can. With each game, Jordan adds to his legacy, solidifying his position among Saints greats.
Jordan’s hard work has earned him accolades, including eight Pro Bowl selections and spots on the All-Decade Team for the 2010s. His record-breaking 229th game is not just a personal achievement; it reflects his commitment to the franchise and the sport.
