Canadian Milos Raonic Makes History With Record Aces At Queen's Club Championships

Milos Raonic, the Canadian tennis star once known for his standout performance at Wimbledon in 2016, has once again captured the spotlight at the Queen’s Club Championships.

Raonic showcased his exceptional skills on the grass court with an extraordinary feat, setting a new ATP record for aces in a three-set match during his thrilling encounter with Britain’s Cameron Norrie.

The match unfolded in a rollercoaster fashion with Raonic securing a hard-fought victory of 6-7 (6), 6-3, 7-6 (9) over his opponent Norrie.

Raonic’s powerful serves, which accounted for a remarkable 56% of his service points, left tennis enthusiasts in awe.

His exceptional performance included a record-breaking 47 aces, surpassing the previous ATP record set by Ivo Karlovic in 2015.

Notably, one of Raonic’s aces during the tiebreaker reached a staggering speed of 232 kilometres per hour, setting the stage for a victorious closing moment.

This historic achievement by Raonic not only secured him a notable record but also propelled him into the second round to face the winner between Taro Daniel and Taylor Fritz.

Meanwhile, Leylah Fernandez from Laval, Quebec, displayed her prowess in Birmingham with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory against Sara Sorribes Tormo in the Rothesay Classic.

Fernandez’s stellar performance on the court positions her to face Viktorija Golubic in the upcoming second round match.

However, Montreal‘s Félix Auger-Aliassime faced an unexpected turn of events as he withdrew from his first-round match against Dominik Koepfer in Halle, Germany.

Auger-Aliassime’s withdrawal occurred during the match, with the Canadian trailing 4-3 in the second set after losing the first set 6-4.

As Raonic and Fernandez continue to shine on the grass courts, the tennis world eagerly anticipates their upcoming matches, each player leaving their mark in the sport’s prestigious tournaments.
