Capcom Pro Tour Faces Backlash Over Pay-Per-View Finals
Tokyo, Japan – The Capcom Pro Tour is facing significant backlash after its recent announcement regarding the upcoming Capcom Cup 12 Finals. On September 28, the official Capcom Fighters account on X revealed that the finals and the SFL: World Championship on March 14 and 15 will now be available as pay-per-view (PPV) streams.
Tickets for the events will go on sale starting November 12, with prices set at 4,000 Yen for a single-day livestream ticket. A bundle ticket for both events is priced at 6,000 Yen. However, the earlier qualifiers from March 11 to 13 will still be available to watch for free on platforms like YouTube and Twitch.
This marks the first time Capcom is charging for what has historically been a free esports circuit.
