Captain America: Brave New World Set for Digital Release on April 15

LOS ANGELES, CA — Marvel Studios has announced that “Captain America: Brave New World,” starring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, will be available for digital streaming on April 15. The film, which debuted in theaters on February 14, is the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), featuring Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America.
In this new chapter, Wilson finds himself embroiled in an international crisis after a meeting with U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, played by Ford. The film follows his quest to uncover a sinister global conspiracy that threatens world stability. Directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, the cast also includes Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, and Xosha Roquemore, among others.
The digital release will be offered through premium video on demand (PVOD) at a purchase price of $29.99 on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. Rentals are expected to cost $24.99 for a 48-hour period. Audiences can look forward to a variety of bonus content, including deleted scenes, a gag reel, featurettes, and filmmaker commentary.
As of now, “Captain America: Brave New World” has grossed approximately $199.1 million domestically and $213.6 million internationally, totaling $412.7 million worldwide against a $180 million production budget. However, it has not performed as strongly as other Marvel films, earning a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics amid mixed reviews.
Audiences have rated the film more favorably, giving it a fresh score of 79% based on over 10,000 verified user ratings. Critics have noted that while Mackie’s portrayal of Captain America is commendable, the film itself struggles with pacing and an overload of references to previous MCU narratives.
Disney will also release the film on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on May 13. Importantly, the digital and Blu-ray releases will include extensive bonus features, making it a noteworthy addition for MCU fans. Disney has yet to announce the date for when “Captain America: Brave New World” will be available for streaming on Disney+; however, it is expected to follow the usual delay pattern and become available in late May.
Since taking the mantle from Steve Rogers, Mackie’s portrayal of Captain America will set the stage for future MCU installments. The film hints at significant developments in the Marvel universe, with potential connections to upcoming films, including “Avengers: Doomsday,” set to debut in May 2026.
