MIAMI, April 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Carnival Cruise Line launched its ambitious ‘Innovation Itinerary’ today, revealing strategic plans for the next five years aimed at solidifying its position as a leader in the cruise industry. During a media briefing aboard the Carnival Celebration, company President Christine Duffy detailed the focus on three key pillars: maximizing fun at sea, enhancing experiences and destinations, and growing guest loyalty.

“Since our inception in 1972, we have defined and led the modern cruise industry, and our plans for the next five years are no different,” said Duffy. “Carnival is poised to continue its leadership position as both America’s Cruise Line and the World’s Most Popular Cruise Line, and we have big developments ahead.”

Carnival’s fleet is set to grow as the company prepares to open the exclusive Celebration Key destination this July and expand its facilities at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay in 2026. Duffy revealed plans to introduce two new Excel class ships in 2027 and 2028, and three additional ships under the innovative Project Ace platform, scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2033.

The new Excel class ship, Carnival Festivale, is slated to debut in spring 2027 from Port Canaveral, Florida. This vessel will feature three new zones, including immersive music-themed venues, and is poised to cater to families with the introduction of 1,000 interconnecting rooms. “Carnival sails more families than any other cruise line, welcoming one million children per year,” Duffy noted, emphasizing the line’s focus on family-friendly amenities.

Among the impressive features of Carnival Festivale will be the Carnival Waterworks Ultra, designed as the ultimate water park at sea with six exhilarating slides, including options for very young guests. The ship will also boast the new outdoor area, Sunsation Point, which will offer vibrant entertainment and special evening events.

“We are redefining the guest experience on our ships by introducing these unique spaces that enhance fun for all ages,” Duffy said.

In addition to the new ships, Carnival plans to enhance its existing guest experiences across all ships, continuing the evolution of their Fun Ship 2.0 concept from 2011. The enhancements will include modernization of décor, dining, and entertainment options.

Deployment strategies were also discussed, including short cruise options from Mardi Gras as new ships join the fleet. These changes are anticipated to make cruising more accessible for first-time cruisers and families with limited vacations.

Carnival will reintroduce year-round operations in Mobile, Alabama, and is considering expanding its presence in Baltimore with a larger ship.

“Half of the U.S. population lives within five hours of a Carnival cruise, and we are committed to serving these communities while expanding our offerings,” Duffy stated.

As part of the Innovation Itinerary, Carnival is launching the new Paradise Collection, a marketing initiative for its exclusive destinations across the Caribbean and Mexico.

Carnival is also set to revamp its VIFP loyalty program, promising greater value and engagement for its loyal guests with changes to be announced this summer.
