Carrie Underwood Performs At Presidential Inauguration

Washington, D.C. — Singer Carrie Underwood performed “America the Beautiful” at the 60th presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, 2025, where President Donald Trump was sworn into office. Underwood expressed her honor to participate in the historic event, stating, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.”

Despite facing a technical issue during her performance, she received rave reviews from the audience. Underwood emphasized the need for unity in her statement, saying, “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

The performance marked a significant moment in her career, echoing the full-circle experience she had when she returned to “American Idol” as a judge. Underwood recently celebrated 20 years since winning the fourth season of the popular competition show.

Joining fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, Underwood reflected on her journey from contestant to judge during the show’s 23rd season, which began on March 9. Her rise to fame began when she was named the winner of “American Idol” in 2005 after a memorable performance of Heart’s “Alone.” Judge Simon Cowell predicted she would become one of the most successful winners in the show’s history.

Underwood fulfilled that prophecy, selling over 85 million records to date and becoming a staple in the country music genre. She has received numerous awards, including Grammy and ACM accolades, solidifying her status as a leading artist.

As Underwood moves forward, she continues to evolve artistically, recently venturing into gospel music with her album “My Savior” in 2021, and releasing the deluxe edition of “Denim & Rhinestones” in 2023. Her journey from reality TV star to a global music icon remains an inspiring story to many.
