LOS ANGELES, CA — CBS has announced that it will delay the premiere of its new drama series ‘Einstein‘ to the 2026-2027 television season. The decision came as CBS finalized its programming schedule for the 2025-26 season, which revealed insufficient time to fit the newly ordered procedural into its lineup.

‘Einstein,’ featuring Matthew Gray Gubler as the great-grandson of physicist Albert Einstein, was initially announced as part of CBS’s new lineup just a week ago. However, the network’s executives opted to push the show back, prioritizing other projects deemed ready for immediate airing.

The series revolves around Lewis Einstein, portrayed by Gubler, who is described as a ‘brilliant but directionless’ professor at Princeton. He finds himself entangled with law enforcement, assisting a detective played by Rosa Salazar in solving complex cases.

CBS has been proactive in expanding its programming with other new series as well. Besides ‘Einstein,’ the network ordered a workplace comedy titled ‘DMV,’ and has three additional new dramas set to premiere next season. These include ‘Sheriff Country,’ a ‘Blue Bloods‘ spinoff; a new FBI offshoot; and a ‘Fire Country‘ spinoff that was previously greenlit.

The network will also bring back several returning scripted series, alongside reality shows such as ‘Survivor’ and ‘The Amazing Race,’ with a new music competition set for 2025-26.

Andy Breckman, known for the show ‘Monk,’ created ‘Einstein’ and is one of its executive producers. CBS plans to announce its full schedule for the upcoming season on May 7, 2025.
