Centralia Orphans Aim for 12th Regional Title Amid Busy Sports Schedule

Centralia Orphans Basketball Team In Action

CENTRALIA, Ill. — The Centralia Orphans are set to pursue their 12th regional title at 7 p.m. tonight against Herrin in Effingham as part of coach Lee Bennett’s 18-year tenure. The Orphans look to capitalize on their strong performance against Herrin, which they previously faced twice this season.

In addition to the Orphans’ matchup, the sports calendar is bustling with several other games tonight. Mt. Vernon will take on Marion in a decisive rubber match of their three-game season series at Marion. Highland is set to host East St. Louis, while Mt. Zion will welcome Mahomet Seymour in an all-Apollo conference showdown.

Makin’ a name for themselves, Taylorville will match up against Lincoln at Springfield Southeast, and Waterloo will play host to Triad. Meanwhile, in 2A, Breese Central is looking for its third win of the season facing Columbia. Althoff is set to compete against Pinckneyville at Chester, while Fairfield welcomes TTown, along with Benton and Carterville playing at Hamilton County.

Massac County faces Vienna at Anna, Greenville will host Auburn, Paris is set to welcome Lawrenceville, and Staunton is hosting Southwestern. In the 1A bracket, Webber will take on Christ Our Rock, while Dieterich and North Clay are clashing at South Central. Christopher is geared up to host Okawville, Waltonville and Steeleville will compete at Marissa, Goreville will face Galatia, and St. Anthony is set to play Arcola at Central A&M.

In 4A action, Alton will host Edwardsville, while Belleville East meets Quincy at Belleville West.
