Champion Racehorse Black Caviar Passes Away

Australia is mourning the loss of its champion racehorse, Black Caviar, who sadly passed away just a day before her 18th birthday.

A statement from her owners announced her death, revealing it was due to laminitis, a painful disease affecting horses’ feet. Trainer Peter Moody expressed his deep sadness, saying she was a remarkable horse that provided unforgettable memories.

Black Caviar made headlines for her incredible career, winning all 25 of her races, including 15 at group 1 level. She was particularly famous for her thrilling victory at Royal Ascot in 2012.

Moody shared that Black Caviar had developed a milk infection recently, which led to complications affecting her feet. After giving birth to a colt foal by Snitzel, she was humanely euthanized due to her condition.

The news shocked many in the racing community, with Neil Wilson, chairman of the Victoria Racing Club, expressing that Black Caviar was more than just a champion; she was an important part of life for many fans.

Black Caviar’s owners also released a heartfelt statement, thanking everyone who cared for her throughout her life. The racehorse leaves behind a legacy, having earned nearly $8 million in prize money and captured the hearts of millions.
