Senior Channel Seven journalist, Robert Ovadia, has officially disclosed his termination from the network subsequent to an internal inquiry into alleged misconduct. Ovadia, a prominent crime reporter based in Sydney, acknowledged to the ABC that he was dismissed after 23 years of service with Channel Seven.

The revelation comes in the midst of an inquiry initiated by the network earlier this month regarding claims of inappropriate behavior made against the seasoned reporter. Ovadia confirmed his departure with a statement, stating, “I’ve been sacked, and there will be more to say about that in the appropriate time,” he said.

Reports suggest that Ovadia has sought legal counsel from renowned lawyer John Laxon concerning the termination. Prior to this, a Channel Seven spokesperson had declared that Ovadia was temporarily on leave while an investigation was ongoing into the allegations of misconduct.

Ovadia had previously refuted any allegations of inappropriate conduct and expressed his intention to defend himself against such claims. Channel Seven has been approached for a response but has not provided any comments at this point.

Recently, there have been several high-profile departures from Channel Seven, including journalists like Cameron Baud and Andrew Frampton. However, it is important to note that there is no implication that these departures are linked in any way.
